PUTTU/RICE STEAM CAKE

Puttu/Rice steam cake

Ingredients

Rice flour for puttu 1 cup (grains size more compared to other flour)
Can be bought ready made from supermarket

Grated coconut 1/2 cup
Water 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Steps

Mix the puttu flour with little salt thoroughly

Then add water little by little to the mixture to wet the flour

the flour need to hold shape when pressed between the fist, and need to break on further pressing

When this consistency is reached transfer it a blender for 1 or 2 pulse

Then take the puttu tube and first add 2 tablespoon of grated coconut then add 3 tablespoon flour .

Continue it and in the top add grated coconut

Press while coconut is added to maintain the shape

Close the puttu kutti and then keep on steamer or pressure cooker

Allow to steam for 5 minutes and when cool down. Push with a laddle or roller .

Piping hot puttu can be served with curry.
