Here is my fish curry recipe which is very instant fish curry with no marination as such.
My mom doesnt like to use much masala powder available in market so as me.
I use her recipe with modifications, so you can use any masalas at whichever step you usually use.
This is red color of fish curry is by the grounded kashmiri chilly .My mom prepare all spice powder for months together and give to me,my aunt etc.
Before we start clean the fish with water and then add little salt and turmeric while washing to give and extra edge.
Ingredients
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 5 in number
Curry leaves 2 tablespoon
Ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon
Garlic 6 in no finely chopped
Onion chopped 1/2 big onion
Tomato 1 large
Chilli 2 in no
Salt to taste
Turmeric 1/4tsp
Chilli 2 tablespoons mixed with 2 tablespoons of water and kept aside
Water -hot water 2cup
Tamarind soaked in hot water
Fish 200 gm
Oil 1 tablespoon
Steps
Take a clay pot of small size and heat in medium flame
Add oil and splutter mustard and fenugreek seeds
Add half of the curry leaves.
Add the ginger garlic and saute.
When its half done add the chopped chilli tomato and onion and saute well.
Mix it well till its cooked and add turmeric powder and salt as per requirement to this.
Then add the chilli powder mix we had prepared earlier and saute till the powder gets cooked.
Now add hot water 1 1/2 cup to this and keep it for boiling.
When bubbling starts add tamarind water and fish to it.
Cook for 5 minutes in high flame and 2 min in medium flame.
Dont mix with spatula as fish will break when continuous mixing done.
For mixing twirl the claypot.
Add few curry leaves to garnish.
Keep the curry aside for 1 hour when it becomes thick and red with all the spices well mixed.
Enjoy with bread or rice of your choice.
